The Great Northern partners with food culture publication Meal Magazine on their second issue, featuring a commissioned story on Sean Sherman, who is leading a revitalization of Native American foodways and cuisine here in the North and beyond; and a conversation about foraging, wintertime food sourcing, and the impacts of climate change from three distinctly Northern food figures with very different backgrounds: chef Yia Vang, Mikkel-Lau Mikkelsen, and Wendy Geniusz.

The blanket is skillfully manufactured by Faribault Woolen Mill (Faribault, MN), one of the last vertical woolen mills in America.

Award-winning architecture/art duo Dream the Combine design T R A C K I N G, an intimate portrait of winter for The Great Northern. Consisting of a series of five movement prompts and responses distributed via text message, the artwork will be an archive of our collective remembrances of winter.

Saint Paul Winter Carnival: Ice Fishing Tournament
The Saint Paul Winter Carnival presents its month-long digital ice fishing competition starting January 1 and ending on the final day of Carnival, February 7. New this year, competitors can fish anywhere in the State of Minnesota: lakes, ponds, and rivers.
