The Main Cinema
Part of the MSP Film Series

A program of three documentary films that unite around expressions of environmental activism and climate action. Following the screening will be a live conversation with Will Steger (Ice Ball) and A Voice for the Wild director Jesse Roesler.

Film Lineup:

ICE BALL
Documentary | 14 min | 2020

Legendary polar explorer, Will Steger, inspires a community by preserving the forgotten craft of ice harvesting. In a nostalgic celebration of this winter craft, the film is a portrayal of human innovation and interconnection that embodies one man’s attempt to move society forward, without leaving the past behind.

CARRYING THE FIRE
Documentary | 18 min | 2021

After the defeat of the Sandpiper Pipeline in Northern Minnesota, Water Protectors return to protect the water, and each other, when Line 3 begins construction.

A VOICE FOR THE WILD
Documentary | 20 min | 2022

In A Voice for the Wild, the follow up to Breaking Trail, Emily Ford and sled dog Diggins attempt to cross the secluded Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in winter during subzero temperatures to raise awareness about the potential environmental impacts a proposed copper-nickel mine in Ely would have on the pristine environment.
