David Hutchinson leads the Global Marketing organization for Aveda, the high-performance, vegan beauty and hair, skin and body care brand with a mission to care for the world, based in Minnesota, USA. David is responsible for the Global Consumer Marketing and Product Marketing teams to drive compelling and elevated storytelling to support the global growth of the brand, while also shepherding the brand’s high-performance product innovations. David has led the acceleration of Aveda’s online strategy, expanding the brand’s global leadership in DTC hair care.
David brings over 20 years of beauty experience across every product category to Aveda, beginning his career with L’Oréal in the UK, before moving to Paris and New York, leading marketing teams on the Maybelline and L’Oréal Paris brands. David deepened his interest in the power of nature and sustainability while running a niche luxury botanical perfume house in Venice Beach, California. Prior to joining Aveda, David held the position of Senior Vice President, Marketing, at MAESA, a beauty brand incubator where he oversaw product and consumer marketing, communications, e-commerce, and product development for a multi-brand portfolio that included Kristin Ess Hair, Flower Beauty and TPH by Taraji P Henson.
David believes deeply in the strength of the whole. He has a vision to aid Aveda in becoming the beauty destination for the conscious consumer, taking the brand to new heights, merging powerful innovation with unwavering commitment to care for the world we live in.
