National Parks Expert, Mikah Meyer, has been described as a “Professional Road Tripper” by REI, but he’s much more than that: A classically trained singer, social media personality, and frequent speaker everywhere from Amazon.com’s headquarters to National Park Foundation galas. Raised as a preacher’s kid in the flat state of Nebraska, Mikah is passionate about exploring all types of outdoor locations, and helping people of divergent backgrounds find joy and common ground through their shared love of nature. This advocacy was seen at the 2024 Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival and following Banff World Tour through his short film “Canyon Chorus,” and via his diverse adventures, including runs across the states of Minnesota, Mississippi, and Nebraska, and a 3-year, world record road trip to all of America’s 400+ National Park Service sites. Selected for the 2025 Banff Adventure Filmmaker Workshop for emerging filmmakers, Mikah is currently finishing his next short film about the Run Across Mississippi, along with a feature length documentary about the 3-year parks journey. A McGill graduate, Mikah is the creator of the Outside Safe Space symbol, which is sold at park gift shops and recreation stores, and is currently being worn by over 100,000 people in the United States as a non-verbal signifier of LGBTQ+ allyship in outdoor, rural, and active spaces. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he has been featured by The Today Show, NPR, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Guardian, and National Geographic Traveler.
